At the end of WW2, the surviving
members of 485 made a covenant to gather again every two
years.
In 1991, Max Collett took over from the
previous organiser, (ex-Sq/Ldr 485 Garry Barnett),
and continued organising these 'get-togethers' - a
tradition since 1945. Understandably, many have
passed on, but the few who are left manage to still 'do
the deed.' Max, as did his predecessor, has
kept all the records of these special times, and here we
present a few photos of the lads from 485.
One of the photos Max has -
of the many that were taken through those 'dark days'...
485 at Selsey
- 1944
For the record, over two hundred
pilots flew with 485 Sqdn., from its formation in
early 1941
to its disbandment in mid 1945. 69 enemy aircraft
were destroyed and an unofficial total of
fifty 485 Sqn pilots killed, including 5 missing
and presumed killed.
