April 1942 to March 1946
and on the RNZAF Air Force Reserve to
December 1975. Noel served
with 297 Sqn RAF and 299 Sqn RAF (
Stirling )

Finally joining 190 Sqn RAF
on ‘special duties ‘ operations.
Some of these ‘Special Duties’ involved
some dangerous missions flying a Shorts Stirling
at night, deep into Europe supplying the
underground movement , and dropping troops by
parachute during the invasion of Europe, also
towing gliders into Arnhem in 1944 at the time of
the tragic British army assault in the
Netherlands.
